Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
Hope everyone is feeling warm and fuzzy and cheerful!
Today has been quite the day! We started it off with 2 hours of paperwork followed by 2 hours of a safety orientation. Let me tell you, those 85 slides were something else... including the amazing 80s set movies. Gotta love denim on denim, and high waited jeans! Not to mention the re-enactment of women hitting their thumbs with a hammer and men shoving each other. Oh the good times that await.
On a plus side, during these amazing moments of my life that I shall never forget, I made a friend, Sheldon! He drives to Fort Mac, so he said that we can drive back to Edmonton with him, so wayyyy better! Not that I didn't just adore the midnight bus ride here, I just think driving with friends with be a lot more amusing. Jerome is coming too!
After our lovely 4 hours of fun, we all went and had lunch together, and then met with the Housekeeping lady who split the Housekeeping group in 2 and took one group with her and sent another with another women. Annnyways, Jerome, Sheldon, me and another black guy were learning how to 'speed' clean because they were sooo short staffed! (7 sickies, 5 mia). Then we got a break and merged groups, and all cleaned together. It was rushed and I didn't have an elastic so I tried using a pen, but all in all it wasn't that bad!
I thought I was in the kitchen, but apparently not. It definitely sucks because I could have made $2.00 an hour more due to my kitchen experience at the seniors home, but no 'tradies'. So, all is well, I am doing what my daddy told me, and going with the flow! And the flow seems to be moving me along nicely!
After work me and my 'boys' decided to meet up at 7 for dinner and all went our separate ways. We met for dinner and had such a great time! Another guy Alfa I believe, he is black from Africa but he is living in New Brunswick and has lived literally everywhere, had dinner with us. We laughed soo much it was great. I told them about the poop on the walls and they all got freaked out about it. Oh the good times that await! We then did a self tour of the camp. Yeah... not a lot going on ... definitely happy I brought the Office to start watching! And books, although I haven't cracked one yet!
I think this summer is going to be alright, especially since I made friends with people who make me laugh so much. I literally almost peed at dinner!
I miss you all dearly though, it defiantly feels like I've been here for a lot longer than 2 days!
xoxo
Muah!
Ruthella
